Our chances of a win before the end of 2014 were unfortunately thwarted by the weather - Warwick being abandoned due to frost. We were looking forward to both our runners today. However we have been lucky so far this winter with very few fixtures lost.

Our gallops also froze hard on Monday with -8 recorded in the yard! Luckily we managed to get on the gallop by mid morning yesterday. Our indoor school is a god-send on these frosty mornings as we can continue to work all the horses. They work just as hard doing jumping practise and schooling. A couple of days break from galloping often freshens them up nicely.

Every school holidays we play host to PC Racing rallies. Started by the Wyle Valley PC, they also open to surrounding clubs. Geoff Andrews has done a great job in encouraging new members to "have a go" and they are carefully tutored in our indoor school on the rules, regs and safety aspecs of the sport before venturing out on to the gallops. They have become hugely popular and it is fantastic to see budding young jockeys taking the plunge in a safe enviroment. Hopefully some will become bitten by the racing bug. The racing industry needs well educated stable staff as well as jockeys. There is no better educator than The Pony Club.

I would like to wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Successful New Year from all of us at Larkinglass.
