Mixed Fortunes

This entry was posted on 2015-01-06 by Caroline.

At the weekend we had mixed fortunes... What Larks battled with the elements at Wincanton but luckily managed to complete. The handicapper was not happy to give him a mark after 3 runs and asked us to run him a 4th time. This is fairly unusual thank goodness. I think the soft ground plays a part because the form on soft - heavy can be difficult to asses, however, we have today been given a mark of 103 and hopefully he can be competetive off this mark.

Pat's point to point season continues its successful run with another 2nd for General Girling in a very competitive maiden at Larkhill. It was jockey Phil Thomas's Birthday so a win would have been nice but still a great result!

We will not be having many runners this week but I am looking forward to possibly running Regal Flow over fences for the first time soon. There are also possible assignments for Judge Davis at Wincanton and Mrs Jordan at Taunton to look forward to. Lets hope the weather allows us to run as planned.

All these will be doing some faster peices of work to prepare them - We often go to Horses First Racing where the gallop is over a mile long to let them really stretch out. Strawberry Hill and A Bitter Affair worked there today as you can see they thoroughly enjoyed their outing!
