The Cold Will Not Stop Us!

This entry was posted on 2015-01-20 by Caroline.

Although these cold, fresh mornings are lovely they do dry out the ground making the conditions sticky and holding. Not ideal for the runners we have waiting to go. Patience is important at this time of year as the ground isn't ideal anywhere, but as we found last week some can handle it (Regal Flow) and others can't (Judge Davis). As I know Mrs Jordan prefers better ground I decided not to run at Exeter yesterday.

However the frost is not disrupting our training and several of the younger brigade are doing some very pleasing work, they shall be ready to make an appearance soon. Namely A Bitter Affair and Posh Millie in bumpers. Strawberry Hill shall be aimed at a chase in early Febuary also.

Most important of all I have heard good news that our jockey Ian Popham is on the mend after his particularly nasty fall at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. We are all looking forward to him being able to race ride again, but also for his imput at the yard which is invaluable.
