A Great Start for Strawberry and an Exciting New Arrival

This entry was posted on 2015-02-10 by Caroline.

Strawberry Hill ran a great race at Taunton over a trip that was too short, he jumped beautifully as always and seems to have lost none of his zest for racing after his injury. He was hardly blowing in the paddock afterwards and so we have decided to run him again relatively quickly. There is a suitable race for him at Fontwell on Thursday over 2m6f. He has won before at Fontwell and with the weather staying dry it should be a good opportunity for him.

Haverstock is entered at Wincanton on Saturday. He has had a short break while the ground was so heavy. Our physio Abi Lewis has made good use of his quiet time to give him several treatments for which there is a massive improvement in his movement... I am looking forward to seeing if this will help him in a race as it has made a huge difference to his jumping.

Several of the babies have been stepping up their work this month, Quarryman is ready for a gallop away from the yard now and will be running as soon as the ground dries up. Also my 4yr old by Marienbard known as Bertie at home is really strengthening up and looking like an exciting prospect for a spring bumper. He still has shares available if anyone is interested, a fun opportunity to name your own horse!

We have a new horse that has just joined the team, Enmore Hill. A 5yr old, unraced, who has been beautifully produced by Marie McGuinness, he was ready to run in a point to point but it was felt by his connections that he had shown enough on the gallops to be capeable of running in a bumper instead. He has shown a superb attitude in all his work and jumps well too (as pictured). We are very much looking forwrad to him making his debut.
