Festival Fever!

This entry was posted on 2015-03-10 by Caroline.

I have just watched one of my all time favourites, Annie Power crash out at the last when certain of victory, allowing the Mullin's 2nd string to win in a photo... What a start to Cheltenham! A feast of fabulous horses and the frightening thing is they will all probably strengthen up again next year!

Our own equivalent of Annie Power, Midnight Lira ran as brave a race yesterday as any of those at Cheltenham. It was her first visit to Stratford and the fences seemed to tower over her, despite being outpaced on the better ground she loved it and ran on like a demon to take 2nd only a length off the winner. She is a legend now having won 5 races and had several good 2nd's. You can always rely on her to try her best.

Midnight Lira is full sister to Bally Legend and hopefully he can fly the flag for Keevil Racing on Thursday. Just to have a horse capable of running at the Festival is every trainers dream and if we are able to trouble the judge we shall all be thrilled.

Yesterday Pat took Haverstock to Taunton and he ran a much more promissing race, leading until 2 out when the ground became deeper. Tom suggested stepping him up to 2m6f as the ground is drying now. He just needs to believe in himself and once he gets his nose infront he will be a different horse.

We also have our newest recruit, Enmore Hill making his debut for us in the bumper at Kempton on Saturday. He will like the drying ground so we are hopefull of a good run.
