Fab Fontwell

Fontwell proved once again to be our lucky course with General Girling winning at 2 meetings there in 9 days under James Best! He relished the soft ground winning by a large margin on both occasions. The confidence he has gained from winning his point to points was obvious as he travelled and jumped so well throughout. It is wonderful for his breeder Jane Girling who has been so patient with him. Hopefully he will improve further.  Regal Flow also ran a gallant race in the Southern National but struggled to travel well on the ground, he still ran a very creditable 5th.

We have had a mixed few weeks with the rain playing a big part on the horses performances - a very wet Exeter upset our chances for An Tarbh Og and Haverstock. Midnight Lira also did not enjoy the ground but plugged on gamely for 5th. Canarbino Girl had her last run before retiring at Towcester but again unfortunately couldn't cope with the ground. Strawberry Hill found 2m4f just too short at Warwick and will step up in trip next time.

At Chepstow Prince Mahler ran on well finishing 3rd in the maiden hurdle seeming to love the soft ground. Palmaria also loved the softer ground in her Exeter mares novice hurdle to place a very close 3rd.

All the horses seem bright and happy and are running well which is great news and certainly boosts staff morale on these wet dark days!
