Keep Calm and Keep Racing!!

This week has been completely dominated by the EU referendum and despite all the excitement and build up, now the result is in, most of us will just carry on as normal.  How the leave result will affect the Horse Racing industry only time will tell, however it didn't seem to stop the Investors at the Derby Sales where trade was above average over all three days.

Mrs. Winchester had to travel all the way to Southwell for her first qualifying chase as there are so few Novice Handicap Chases at this time of year.  With heavy rain overnight the ground turned soft which wasn't ideal.  Despite being bumped into the first fence she ran on and jumped some big fences gaining confidence as she did, but Ian (Popham) pulled her up due to the testing ground which she wasn't enjoying. She will learn a lot from this run and should be able to run again soon.

On Monday I'll be attending the 6 monthly National Trainers Federation Meeting at Taunton Racecourse.   These are always well attended and it's a great chance to have a chat with other trainers about topics that crop up throughout the year. Race programming will be high on everyone's list for discussion.  Afterwards I'll be visiting some of my boys who are on their holidays at home with Heather Dunn and see how they are all looking.

La Madonnina and Cheta's Gamble both have entries on Tuesday at Stratford's evening meet.

It's time to start planning for next season already exciting times ahead. . .
