New season, new horses, new staff

This entry was posted on 2016-08-01 by Caroline.

At last the preparations for the new season can begin in earnest. The horses are back in work and loving their new surroundings – the hill work is exceptional and with many different routes to take, everyday is a new challenge. I always vary their work with some suppling school work which improves their balance and helps spot any early stiffness issues before they become a problem.

Apart from Alex, my yardman, a completely new team of staff have now assembled and last week was quite a challenge for us all. However everyone seemed to gel together really well. New staff pictures and profiles will be added soon to introduce them all to you. They are certainly a talented bunch of girls.

There will be no runners this week. La Madonnina recovered well from her fall at Worcester and James Best called in to jump her to make sure she hadn’t lost her confidence. All was well and she was spring healed and happy.

Mrs Winchester was much happier running over hurdles again at Stratford and travelled well for a long way. She just tired at the end as it was her first time at 2M 6f and she will come on for that run. She will be looking for a point to point home after her next run. She will be a nice maiden for this season – so please contact me for more details.
