Changing Times

This entry was posted on 2016-09-16 by caroline.

At times like these, when I am reflecting on the events of the past few years, the things that stand out the most are the wonderful horses and people who are involved in racing.

My incredibly supportive owners – many who have become lifelong friends – Their enthusiasm and love of horses enduring all the good and bad times with goodwill.

The hardworking jockeys, who have loyally supported me producing winners, whenever able and nurturing the lesser lights with sensitivity and care.

My staff, who over the years have been amazing with many of them remaining good friends after they have moved on.

Then the real stars – The horses – everyone of them different, everyone a new challenge, getting to know them, understanding what will make them give their best for you is something I will never lose my love for.

I shall now be able to try and achieve my original ambition to win the Cheltenham Foxhunter chase.

The seed was sown many years ago while helping dear Reg Wilkins with his wonderful hunter chaser Double Silk – he won both the Cheltenham and Aintree Foxhunters and he and Reg were the epitome of what amateur racing was at that time.

That was the beginning of my racing journey and inspired by Reg’s wise word – “It’s attention to detail my dear” which sets you apart” I shall be looking for another great hunter chaser to help me!!
